not-for-profit agency, Stamford Emergency Medical
Services (SEMS) is a progressive organization with
the responsibility to provide pre-hospital emergency care and
transport to the citizens and guests of Stamford, Connecticut.
The ONLY Nationally
Accredited Ambulance Service in Connecticut
SEMS
is accredited by the
Commission on the
Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS),
offering the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care to
the community. All SEMS units are staffed
by at least one Connecticut-licensed paramedic. The
SEMS staff is comprised of thoroughly trained
career and volunteer personnel who together provide
high-quality emergency medical care.
The Stamford EMS Academy
is the area's premier healthcare education training
center. We provide American Heart Association Basic
Life Support for Healthcare Providers, Heartsaver CPR
AED and First Aid, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),
and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses.
SEMSA also provides initial and refresher EMT
programs, hazardous materials awareness and operations,
as well as other healthcare related courses. To

The Connecticut Department of Public
Health, in collaboration with the American Heart
Association, has designated Stamford a HEARTSafe Community.
A
HEARTSafe Community
promotes and supports: CPR training in the community; public
access to defibrillation through strategic placement of
automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for use by public
safety professionals and other trained community members;
and early advanced care.
Stamford EMS plays a vital role in this
initiative, providing traditional and Hands-Only CPR
training and AED placement assistance throughout our
community.
